Water top-up is essential, particularly during the vegetative period. The application interval is calculated according to the maximum evapotranspiration and the total quantity of water available in the soil. If the rainfall is low and the irrigation water supplied is limited, irrigation must be concentrated on the vegetative growth period. The water top-up may be limited during the maturing period; certain water savings may also be made during flowering. Irrigation is interrupted in the months preceding harvest.
